Nice Shot!

Okay, so we non-liberals are happy about the man killed by Air marshals, well, maybe happy isn't the word, but I will not mourn the loss. We set up a system for counter terrorism and it worked. Sorry the guy was off his meds, but then don't fly, drive. Finally a clear mark that 9-11 measures are working. No more flights downed in Pennsylvania fields because passengers had the balls to do the right thing. Let's face it, it could have been the White House had it not been for the hero's of that fateful flight.

This is good, a step in the right direction. America should take a page out of Israel's book when it comes to air safety. No hidden guns, the protectors are there for all to see. A Glock is a pretty good deterrent. Shoot first, ask questions later. Works for me.

Who are we catering to?

I know I am not the only person in the US to be sickened be the commercialism of Christmas. While shopping for Halloween costumes, if I turned around, Santa could have smacked me in the face in the same isle. 104.5 has been playing Christmas music for a month now and B-101 has deemed itself the "Christmas music station".

I do not shop early, I do not want to hear Jingle Bells in October and I'll go one step further, I do not want to deal with this until I've stuffed myself with Thanksgiving dinner!

I'm all about the holidays, but is the true meaning being left behind for the few that love to complain?

1. Christmas break is now Winter break.

2. The Christmas concerts in schools are now the Winter concerts. (God forbid, should we offend anyone.)

3. Yes, I said it, GOD! Believe, don't believe, I could care less, but do not tell me that I should teach my children that Christmas is for gifts. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah (which begins Christmas day and I will be celebrating this also with my Jewish friends of which I have many and love very much) or Kwanza, this is America, the Greatest Country in the world! We are afforded the right to speak about beliefs and to use the word CHRISTMAS.

4. I will not refer to Christmas break as Winter break.

5. I will sing Silent Night loud and proud.

6. I will say the Pledge of Allegiance including the word GOD loud and proud and add an Amen to the end!

Is this a rant? No, It's freedom of speech. Welcome to America and GOD BLESS the men and women that have fought to give us this right!

Opening on the BOE

So the BOE has an opening. I truly hope that they do seek actual interested parties that wish to serve Evesham, its tax payers and children, in that order. I sincerely hope that a candidate has not already been chosen, though typically, in the past candidates receiving interviews are a formality, the actual BOE member to take the open seat has already been chosen from within. We shall see.

At What Cost?

I fully supported the Presidents agenda to go into Iraq and free the people. The war has many casualties, but can we put a price on freedom? It is astonishing that thousands of individuals walked miles to assert their right to vote, even under threat of death. This great country of ours has afforded us this right, which truly is a privilege, yet voter apathy still exists.

I am a fiscal conservative with moderate views of the world. Both parties Republican and Democrat a like have their strengths and weaknesses. Is one better than the other? Personally, I don't think so. They have both stopped representing the people they claim to and elections can and have been bought. Sad, but true.

This country was founded on Judea/Christian beliefs. Yet, God is debated in the Pledge of Allegiance. Majority used to rule, now, the lone, loud voice is answered. Maybe, the answer is a new party, something that actually represents the people. Democracy is a wonderful gift, we as Americans must learn how to use it.

Only in Evesham

Can we have a solicitor, paid for by our tax dollars, that is a partisan hack. Evesham has the unique distinction of being a "non-partisan" town, meaning we have May elections and do not run candidates for Mayor and Council solely because of party affiliation. This is joke and the joke is on the tax payers. Why would I make such a statement, because only in Evesham would the GOP use God, slander and lies to sway the outcome of an election. Mayor Tamburro's daughter was the one that initiated this law suit. Lynch lives two doors down and signed her petition. Mike is a true, practicing Catholic, his wife even teaches CCD. Unlike what you're about to read, Mike is not Catholic by convenience. It doesn't get more pathetic or sleazy than this. Where is the proof you ask. Here it is:

As an added footnote, I have no issue if this where between Ed & Dennis, that's politics, low, but true. John, should have had the big ones to sign it himself. Never get a women to do your dirty work. Could it be he didn't sign it himself because it is a conflict of interest? What the hell, this is Evescam!

Re: Michael Lynch (Anti-St. Isaac Jogues Council Candidate)

Dear Fellow Parishioners:

There is an election coming up on November 8, 2005 for a Council seat in Evesham Township. One of the candidates, Mike Lynch, was one of the plaintiffs who filed suit to overturn the Planning Board’s approval of our Church and associated facilities.
It is important to remember that the thrust of Mr. Lynch’s argument was that Catholics on the Planning Board should not have been allowed to vote on this application, even though they were not St. Isaac Jogues Parishioners. The argument was patently offensive, and is based on the belief that Catholics cannot be trusted to make important decisions for this Township.
We have worked very hard to assert our rights as a community in Evesham Township. It concerns me that someone as narrow-minded and biased as Mr. Lynch, who joined that lawsuit against us, now wants to be a policy-maker for the entire Township.
The candidate Mr. Lynch is running against is a woman named Bonnie Olt who is President of the School Board and is a protégé of those elected and appointed Officials who are friendly to St. Isaac Jogues. For example, it was the ability of Mayor Tamburro and our friends on the Council, to change the composition of the Evesham Township Municipal Utilities Authority which, once they got enough votes in our favor, then voted to refund us the protested water and sewer connection fees which their predecessors unfairly imposed on us.
As a community, we are much better served at St. Isaacs by having someone affiliated with our friends on the Council and in local government than we are having someone sitting there who actually sued to keep our Church from being built.
Please keep this in mind next Tuesday, November 8th, and make sure your vote helps our Parish. Please be sure to let your friends, neighbors, and fellow Parishioners know that Mr. Lynch is not a candidate friendly to St. Isaacs. Thank you.

Evesham Election for Council

Evesham survived another election cycle. Congratulations to Bonnie Olt. I sincerely hope she will bring a tone of civility to the current council. She has her work cut out for her. My only criticism is the fact that she did not campaign and all mailers etc. were extremely negative and non factual, though I am sure Ms. Olt did not have any say in the matter, which is always the case with GOP run campaigns in Burlington County, as is the same in Camden County. If George Norcross wanted Mr. Lynch to win, he would have pumped enough money into the campaign to assure a victory like the GOP did. This was not the case.

I also find it disturbing that Mike Lynch, Ms. Olt's opponent was not afforded the right to vote for himself via a snafu with the AG's office while purging the lists . The problem was rectified, they just forgot to change the voter rolls. He was not the only person this happened to.
